Hello! My name is Jennifer Light and I am the school social worker at EMS. This is my 22nd year working in schools and my 3rd at EMS. I’m looking forward to a great 2022-2023 school year! My role is to help students maximize their academic learning and educational outcomes, as well as to enhance the personal, social and emotional components of their lives. Some areas that can be addressed are identifying and processing feelings, anger management, stress management, grief and loss, social skills, self-esteem, family issues, peer relationships and crisis intervention.
Students that I work with often have social work services on their IEPs and may work with me more long-term, but students can also be referred to me through parents and staff at school and may be seen more on a short-term basis.
I am a c0-sponsor of Circle of Friends at EMS, where we pair peer mentors with students with disabilities. We participate in monthly activities that include field trips such as going bowling and to the pumpkin patch in October and encourage them to eat lunch together and interact outside of school even. I also co-sponsor Lunch Bunch where all students are welcome to eat lunch and enjoy games and popcorn. We will meet 1 to 2 times every month.
I’m looking forward to this school year and meeting your child! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
