Academics:  

* Student-athletes must be in good standing academically to participate.  If at any grade check a student-athlete’s grade drops to failing, the student may attend practice, but will not be placed in a meet until grades are brought up to passing (within a reasonable time, 1 to 2  weeks maximum). If after this time the student-athlete is not passing will be dismissed from the team.

Practice: 

*Starts at 3:05 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. when we are at Challenger please pick up on the north side parking area.  EMS,  from 3:05 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. pick up at the activity entrance on the north side. (Friday’s till 4 PM)

 *We will be practicing inside at EMS on days where the weather is bad, and if we  have severe weather, practice will be canceled.

*Athletes need to be prepared to RUN and be CHALLENGED.

*Attire: Athletes should always bring school/weather appropriate attire and  water bottles. 

*Participation in practice is required. Please notify your grade coaches if you will  not be at practice AHEAD OF TIME. If you are excused from school, then you are  excused from practice. 

*Athletes are expected to be coachable, competitive and show good sportsmanship. 

Pre-existing Medical Conditions

*Coaches must be made aware of a pre-existing medical condition. 

*Athletes with asthma inhalers are responsible for keeping their own inhaler  with them each day during practice. 

Unexcused Absences: 

1st Unexcused Absence: Extra Conditioning and Athlete will sit out next meet. 

2nd Unexcused Absence: Dismissal from the team.  

In-School-Suspension (ISS): 

1st: ISS - Athlete cannot practice, extra conditioning(after practice), and will miss next meet. 

2nd: ISS - Will result in dismissal from the team. 

Bus suspension: 

Athletes are not allowed to ride the bus or compete for the duration of the  suspension. 

Meets:  

*Athletes must be at school/practice the day before a meet and the day of inorder to compete.

*Parents are encouraged to attend meets, but are NOT allowed on the track or  infield. 

*Coaches have the final determination for event placement. 

*Athletes must wear the EMS issued shorts, shirt and need to bring their sweats,  water bottle, healthy snacks and a blanket to every meet. 

*Athletes may participate in no more than 7 meets. 

*Athletes must show good sportsmanship and represent EMS in a positive manner.  This means being respectful to all meet workers and other participants.

 *Parents MUST sign out their student from meets before taking their athlete home. Athletes  may not ride with another parent unless their own parent has completed the parent  permission form for activities and turned it into the EMS office before we leave for a  meet. The parent permission form can be found on the EMS website under athletic  forms. It is preferred that this form be turned in 24 hours prior to the meet. 

*ALL EMS rules apply to EMS athletic events, whether at home or away.  

Lettering: *Students in good standing at the end of the track season and have competed regularly in meets will receive a letter.

Athletes are eligible to participate in 4 events at each meet, 

and no more than 2 events over 800 meters.
